Gooey Lemon Custard Cake

1: Preheat oven to 350F and grease or line a 7x7 baking dish.

2: Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.

3: Combine sugar, butter, and salt by hand until the texture is like damp sand.

4: Start adding the remaining ingredients in order: flour, egg yolks, lemon zest, and lemon juice.

5: Gently mix to combine.

6: Add milk and combine well.

7: Fold in the beaten egg whites.

8: Pour the mixture into the baking dish.

9: Bake until set and let cool completely for a minimum of 30 minutes.

10: Dust with icing sugar and serve with ice cream, nuts, or fruits.
